Bardor Tulku Rinpoche September 29-October 1, 2017

Bardor Rinpoche

White Lotus Buddhist Center is honored to have Bardor Tulku Rinpoche join us for a special weekend devoted to Guru Rinpoche (or Guru Padmasambhava). Bardo Tulku is a rebirth of one of Padmasambhava’s twenty-five principle disciples, Nupchen Sangye Yeshe, who became the first well-known Tibetan birth of Terchen Barway Dorje – or Bardor Tulku Rinpoche. The previous Garchen Rinpoche was a devoted disciple and also one of the principal dharma heirs of Terchen Barway Dorje.

Guru Rinpoche

A good friend of the current H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, their monasteries are in the same region of Tibet. This visit came about by the strong suggestion from Gar Rinpoche that we invite Bardor Tulku Rinpoche to White Lotus. He has been twice to Rochester, the most recent visit was in 2015 during the Vajrakilaya retreat with Garchen Rinpoche. But, this will be his first teaching visit.

Bardor Rinpoche will teach on White Lotus, an Explanation of the Seven-Line Prayer to Guru Rinpoche by Jamgön Mipham (1846-1912) one of the great luminaries of Tibetan Buddhism in modern times. The Seven-Line Prayer to Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) is one of the most well-known prayers in the Tibetan Buddhist world. It embodies the practice of guru-yoga and reciting it over and over purifies and deepens one’s relationship with one’s teacher. The ultimate goal is to blend one’s mind with the teacher’s enlightened mind – “in the words of Dilgo Khentse Rinpoche, . . . ‘the surest and fastest way to reach the goal of enlightenment.’ ”

According to Tulku Thondup Rinpoche – “White Lotus elucidates . . . five layers of meaning as revealed by the eminent scholar Mipham the Great. This is a prayer to and meditation on Guru Padmasambhava, the self-present primordial wisdom of the mind, the changeless great bliss of the vajra-body, the innate radiance of wisdom light – buddhahood.”

Registration – White Lotus is offering registration on a sliding scale. Please be as generous as you can keeping in mind it costs the Dharma Center to bring Lamas, their attendants and translators to Rochester for programs such as this.
