2 Rounds zazen and Zen Talk

Long time Zen student and Rochester resident Rafe Martin is in the process of being sanctioned by his teacher, Danan Henry Roshi, to teach in the lay Zen Buddhist tradition of the Diamond Sangha. As an addition to our regular schedule, White Lotus is happy to have Rafe lead periods of Zen meditation (zazen) on Wednesday evenings, as well as hold sittings and give Dharma talks and discussion on Saturday mornings. Rafe’s intention to provide Zen teaching and guidance in practice in an atmosphere that is lay and non-institutional mirrors White Lotus’s efforts to establish the Buddha-Dharma in America. Interestingly, this arrangement is reminiscent of Buddhist temples in China where one could find teachers of different traditions within a single complex. Thus, there would be Cha’n, Pureland, Huayan, and T’ien-t’ai teachings side by side. White Lotus members and others interested in these sessions will find a welcoming environment. Open to all.
